Innovations in Dentistry

Illinois Cosmetic Dentistry Serving Chicago, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Skokie, and Surrounding Areas

At Glen Dental Center, we’re proud of our ongoing commitment to technology. We employ the latest dental equipment and techniques, and we’re happy to offer the following advances to our patients:

The Wand

The Wand is the latest innovation in anesthesia administration. With the Wand, Dr. Gilmor or Dr. Phillips is able to administer anesthesia to patients with the ease of a computer-controlled injection system. The Wand offers patients a more comfortable way to receive anesthesia, and ensures that just the right amount is delivered for the specific treatment. The Wand monitors the pressure and amount of fluid that is dispensed, so a patient’s threshold of pain is not exceeded. Another advantage of the Wand is that the delivery of anesthesia precedes insertion of the needle, so patients barely feel the needle under the skin. Now our patients can rest assured without fear of awkward, oversized anesthesia needles!

Diagnodent

Diagnodent provides Dr. Gilmor and Dr. Phillips with a revolutionary new method of detecting cavities. Using a simple laser diode, the Diagnodent technology inspects teeth carefully to uncover even the smallest signs of decay. Using a healthy tooth as a comparison, the diagnodent laser is pinpointed at other areas of the mouth which may be prone to decay. When the Diagnodent finds an imperfect mark, the fluorescent light readings alert Dr. Gilmor or Dr. Phillips to the locations of the decay. Because cavities are often difficult to detect until they grow in size, the Diagnodent technology provides a very valuable method of early detection and treatment. Diagnodent requires no X-rays, allowing both Dr. Gilmor and Dr. Phillips to effectively monitor areas prone to decay, allowing for enamel preservation. Your dental examination is quicker and more accurate thanks to Diagnodent technology.

Digital X-ray

Digital X-ray is a new technology that allows both Dr. Gilmor and Dr. Phillips to diagnose and treat dental problems more accurately than ever before. Digital X-ray uses unparalleled X-ray equipment to more precisely determine when and where decay is occurring. With this time saving innovation, the team from Glen Dental can photograph more detailed areas of your mouth in a shorter amount of time than with traditional film. Digital Xray allows for more careful and speedy diagnosis, and can detect a considerably wider range of tooth and gum abnormalities. Digital X-ray aids in a variety of treatments, including implant placement, emergency treatments, and bone loss detection. Other advantages of digital X-ray include reduced radiation, more precise results, ability to enhance or zoom an image, instant feedback, clearer patient education, and better image quality.

Invisalign

Invisalign technology offers an innovative new way to straighten teeth without the awkwardness of metal braces. Using clear plastic aligners, Invisalign gently straightens teeth, without letting everyone know you’re actually wearing braces! The plastic aligners are comfortable and removable, so you can eat whatever you please. Just visit us every few weeks for readjustments, and enjoy your “invisible” braces! More about Invisalign
